Plastics solutions supplier PCS Company celebrated its 75th anniversary with an Aug. 16 BBQ-and-baseball party at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica, Michigan.
The big celebration was preceded on Aug. 13 by an open house and luncheon at PCS headquarters, complete with birthday cake and specially tailored 75th anniversary shirts for its employees. During the luncheon, PCS President Angela Elsey revealed that the company had been named a top Michigan workplace for the third consecutive year.
“Seventy-five years is unbelievable,” Elsey told PCS staff during a short presentation at the luncheon. “I can’t be more proud to be just a small part of the 75-year history and so grateful to all of you. Thank you for taking us this far, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here. ”
Jim Stuart, son of the founder of PCS and former PCS president, attended the luncheon along with several retired PCS employees and received a machined ejector pin to commemorate his legacy from Elsey.
PCS Company is a Misumi Group Company based in Metro Detroit’s Fraser, Michigan. PCS was started in 1950 as a family-owned business, R & S Tool, which was involved with the manufacturing of cutting tools out of Warren, Michigan. In 1968, PCS Company was established and R & S Tool merged into it. P-C-S stands for Pins, Cores, and Sleeves as these are the original items that were first manufactured.
“My father and his partner would not believe” how far PCS has progressed since they started, Stuart said.
Elsey also thanked two representatives of Mexican distribution partner Privarsa who attended the luncheon. Privarsa has been a PCS partner since 2013 and received an commemorative plaque.
The Saturday baseball celebration was attended by about 70 employees and family members.
