DME Launches New LT-Series LifeTime Side Locks

DME, Madison Height, Michigan, a maker of mold bases, components, supplies and more, has announced the new DME LT-Series LifeTime Roller Lock, featuring a new and improved design and available in three advanced materials to meet the requirements of different molding applications.

A major challenge facing molders is improper mold alignment which can cause dimensional problems of the final product, flash, damaged components or even a mold that won’t run anymore. Current side lock alignment products on the market can fall short in their performance, especially in the molding of high precision parts over extended molding periods.

The new DME LT-Series LifeTime Roller Locks incorporate design features which sets them apart from all other locks on the market. The tri and penta-lock interlacing locking design delivers a more precise location and holding power of the final lock-up. The longer male portion and the new carbide rollers ensure the mold halves align easily, which protects against cross-over shutoff.

The new lock design is available in three new base materials which have been chosen to raise the bar of alignment. The standard LifeTime Lock is made of D2 steel for long mold life performance. The High Heat LifeTime Lock is machined from DC53 steel, an advanced high-performance steel, making it the preferred product for high temperature processing (750°F) required for specific engineering resins. The final material in the portfolio is a 440C stainless steel designed for clean room and packaging applications.

The new LifeTime Lock is machined to precise tolerances, allowing each lock to be fully interchangeable within the same lock series. This feature makes them perfect for shuttle and rotary mold applications.
